The Minnesota Vikings have highlighted a lot this season. Kwesi Adofo-Mensah had enough cap-space and went to the city to marry both the attacking and the defensive lines. Other upgrades were also made according to the selection of Kevin O’Connell, and JJ McCarthy should feel good about the team for which he is central.

The Green Bay Packers have released Jaire Alexander, and his presence or Jalen Ramsey seems like a must for the Minnesota Vikings schedule.

If there is still a problem that the Minnesota Vikings have to tackle, this is the cornerback position. Byron Murphy Jr. Is back and works as the best option. Isaiah Rodgers signed to take over as the secondary starting angle. With the departure of Stephon Gilmore and Shaq Griffin, there is an open role that needs some help.

The Vikings must be enthusiastic about the return of a healthy Mekhi Blackmon. He saw last season for an important role prior to the seasonal knee injury. It must be expected that this year he will be an integral part of the defense of Brian Flores. Yet it would be a misstep to fully rely on a relatively unproven acquisition and someone who comes from injury.

That is where the need for a veteran comes in. There are two options with a high ceiling with which the Vikings have a level of fame.

Jalen Ramsey is reportedly available at the Miami Dolphins. There was a time when he was perhaps the best cornerback over the entire competition. That may no longer be true if he is outdated, but there is no reason to believe that he would still not be a difference for Minnesota. He could still be held under contract for a kind of draw compensation.

On the other hand, Green Bay Cornerback Jaire Alexander released. He has made it within the division and has discussed his ability to close opposite broad recipients. He would certainly benefit from working against both Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison in practice on a daily basis. In contrast to Ramsey, a takeover of Alexander would only cost dollars.

The free agent market does not have much left in the cornerback position. Both Jaire and Jalen represent the best of what is available, and Minnesota would be better off by having one of them in his selection. It will be late when it tries to add more talent before the season starts. Adofo-Mensah would be well served to find a path to a deal for one of them.
