In anticipation of the World Test Championship match against South Africa, Australia Star Pacer Josh Hazlewood believes that he is in the best rhythm of his career.
Josh Hazlewood, who recently tasted success with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2025, has faith in the long-awaited match of the World Test Championship (WTC) against South Africa. After fighting a series of injuries in recent years, the Australian Pacer wants to fill one of the few remaining gaps in his career. Hazlewood finally arrived in the UK next to Josh Inglis, after the conclusion of IPL 2025.
Hazlewood became on Saturday before preparing for the Red Ball match during the optional training session of Australia in Beckenham. Hazlewood will probably design Scott Boland for a place in the starting XI. “I was clearly fairly close to the last time (in 2023),” said Hazlewood, as quoted from Espncricinfo.
“I just had more of a interrupted IPL that led to it, and then had a few small problems, so it wasn’t completely aware, but this time I feel in a much better place,” he added. “And I think that in every size my songs have been pretty good in the last two years, so I have a lot to stand out in terms of skill. I still have the feeling that I am probably the best about my career and it is just a matter of the body it has been, what it has been in recent months,” he noticed.
“I think the intensity is probably a big one for me to check that box,” he said, as quoted from Espncricinfo. “We certainly adjust training to catch up with those back-to-back days, to get a big day, followed by another bowling session the day after and things like that, just to try to get our head around it and bring ourselves to the best possible position we can be,” he noticed.
Hazlewood is optimistic that the somewhat delayed conclusion of the IPL will not hinder its preparation. He remains sure that he will get enough red ball training under his belt for the final. “I checked a few good overs just before the final in Ahmedabad, in other weather than this,” he said.
“It was a pretty tough session. And then every time you play a game in the IPL, you probably get almost seven or eight overs if you really want … in and around with warm-ups. I had a number of times where I bowed back-to-back days, again at high intensity, with the game as one of those,” he noticed.
In the 12 games he played for RCB, Hazlewood took 22 wickets with an average of 17.54.
