England drove to victory in their opening T20 match against West India in the Banks Homes Riverside Stadium in Durham.
Jos Butler’s 96 introduced the Three Lions to the victory with 21 points in what his first T20 international was since the Witte-Ball captain handed to Harry Brook.
He was well supported by Jamie Smith, who added 38, and Jacob Bethell who inched a Run-A-Ball 23. Their efforts helped England to place a formidable score of 188-the second highest T20 ever on this ground.
Dawson returns with a bang
Spin turned out to be the most effective weapon for both parties, but the choice of the bowlers was without a doubt Liam Dawson.
Dawson appeared in his first international competition for almost three years and set up a show and took four wickets for only 20 points in his four overs.
He began to remove the bowling success of England through Johnson Charles through a stump, before he secured the crucial wickets of Roston Chase, Sherfane Rutherford and Rovman Powell in the middle of the middle.
Although he only took one wicket, Adil Rashid was also impressed, maintaining a tight line over his four overs, which only admit 22 points.
West -India Hapert Under Pressure
West India on 91-3 with one ball left over in the tenth and had already taken 24 from Jacob Bethell.
That included two sixes, and Evin Lewis aroused his chances of touching another border to end the over.
But it was a big hit too much, because he was caught by Ben Duckett on the border and caused the collapse of the West India.
Shortly thereafter, Rutherford only fell two runs, where the remaining batters are tumbling like Domino’s, including Powell, Russell and motion, all about to turn around.
Romario Shepherd and Jason Holder provided a few late limits, but in the end it was too late.
Matthew Potts struggled during the game with his line, but managed to get the Wicket from Shepherd with the last ball of the game.
West -India ended on 167 points and needs a stronger show with both the bat and the ball if they have to level the series.
The second T20 takes place on Sunday 8 June in Bristol.
