Football Australia is being investigated about his ability to protect the integrity of the sport while it is struggling with the second match-fixing scandal of the A-League in 12 months.
ABC investigations can reveal that the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission will launch a “Suitability Assessment” of Football Australia that will investigate the integrity measures of the administrative body, as well as the range of gambling markets that makes it possible at football matches in Australia.
The revelations of the probe will be accused of 25-year-old Western United player Riku Danzaki after the Victoria Police this week accused of 10 match-fixing charges due to alleged deliberate yellow cards during A-League matches in April and May.
In May last year, the police of NSW MacArthur FC players Ulises Davila, Kearyn Bacchus and Clayton Lewis accused with match-fixing violations that are allegedly also involved in yellow cards.

The VGCCC says that the latest allegations of the match fixing in which the Western United player was “worrying” were.
“In the 2025–26 financial year, the VGCCC will carry out a suitability assessment of FA to guarantee the integrity of its events,” the regulator said in explanation.
“This includes viewing the activities that makes FA possible, such as yellow cards.
“The scope of the FA assessment still has to be completed, but will focus on the legal integrity requirements of sports control authorities.”
In a statement Football Australia said that the VGCCC informed the assessment in April.
“Football Australia welcomes the possibility of continuing to refine our vigilance against integrity threats,” said it.
“Football Australia endorses constant vigilance in our standards to meet this challenge, but it is something that all Australian and international sports, supervisors and government agencies have to do together, because this stain is not unique to Footy players.
“The task for integrity is never complete because perpetrators are getting more and more refined.”
According to Victoria gambling, Football Australia is a designated “Sports Control Body”, giving it the responsibility to supervise the integrity of football and the power to negotiate with gambling companies about the range of events on which they can offer bets.
It also enables football Australia to earn part of the income from gambling on football matches – including bets on the number of yellow cards in a match.
Football Australia has similar forces and responsibilities under the gambling laws of New South Wales.

In 2023, four corners revealed that Football Australia made bookmakers to offer bets at all levels of the sport – from international competitions to amateur – in the suburbs of the suburbs.
Most other major sports organizations, such as the AFL and NRL, only make gambling on professional and second -class professional competitions.
Although the VGCCC did not announce the reference conditions for his research, Melbourne University Sports Law Expert Jack Anderson said it would probably be aimed at the reach of gambling football Australia, at all levels of professional and amateur football in the country.
“Probably something [the regulator] It is saying, yes, we have been agreed that Football Australia can allow a series of bets on football. But are some of these bets that run such a risk that they must be repulsed and not offered? He said.
Jack Anderson said that yellow cards were one of the few play elements in football that could be influenced by a single player. ((Delivered))
Professor Anderson said that football administrative bodies and authorities around the world are struggling with rising cases of alleged match fixation with yellow cards, one of the few play elements in the sport that can be influenced by a single player.
“It is very discreet, because a player can influence the error that the yellow card generates. And they can almost do it up to the minute, or to a certain time in the game.”
The Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta, who plays with the English Premier League side West Ham United, is confronted with a possible lifelong prohibition after the British football club had accused him of alleged yellow cards as part of a spot-fixing operation.
Paqueta has denied misconduct.
