The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) wrote to the state government on 3 June and asked permission to hold a congratulation ceremony in Vidhana Soudha.
In the letter from India Today TV, the government was told about an event in Vidhana Soudha, “In case Royal Challengers Bengaluru wins the IPL 2025 title.”
The letter requested approval for DNA Entertainment Networks, a business management agency, to make appointments for congratulations at Vidhana Soudha Grand Steps on 4 June.
The letter was reportedly reached the government at 7.30 pm on 3 June.
The letter addressed to the Ministry of Personnel and Administrative Reforms of the State Government and signed by KSCA Chief Executive Officer Shubhendu Ghosh has also been informed about the guest list. “This is also to inquire that the honorable Minister President and the Dear Deputy Prime Minister will defeat the opportunity and congratulate the RCB players & Supporting Staff (SIC),” said the letter.
The KSCA also promised full cooperation and stated that if “further clarifications” were needed by the DPAR office, Ghosh should be contacted.
Minister -President Siddaramaiah, during a press conference on June 4, 11 people were killed earlier in a Stormloop outside of Chinnaswamy Stadium, insisted that the state government was not part of the stadium event, which was organized by the KSCA. There was a congratulation event for the IPL 2025 winners in the Vidhana Soudha earlier in the day, before the ceremony in the stadium.
“More than one Lakh people gathered for the Vidhana Soudha, but luckily there was no unwanted incident there. In the stadium, however, where the capacity is 35,000, there was about two to three Lakh people showing up. This was completely unexpected,” Siddaramaiah said the media on the press conference.
The minister President clarified that the KSCA, not the state government, organized the stadium event. He stated that the role of the government was limited to granting permission and providing police security. “We only gave permission and used the entire Bengaluru Police Force for safety. The government did not organize the stadium event,” he said.
