The Rouse Avenue court of Delhi will express its order on the closing report of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with regard to the disappearance of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Najmed on 30 June, when it will decide on both the closing report of CBI and the CBI.
The decision follows the request of the court for further clarifications of the prosecution with regard to specific aspects of the investigation.
During the hearing on Thursday, the court sought details about the proctorial investigation of JNU after the incident on October 14, 2016, involving an alleged fight between Ahmed and members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). It also sought information about the statements of doctors laid down on the basis of section 161 of the Code of Criminal legislation (CRPC).
The public prosecutor who appeared on behalf of the CBI, the court announced that one of the doctors had treated Ahmed for depression.
The court also provided the investigative officer relevant files and asked for details about the other statements recorded during the investigation. Given the clarifications of the CBI, the court decided to re -make the case for orders on 30 June.
Najeeb Ahmed, a 27-year-old first-year MSC Biotechnology student at JNU, was missing on October 15, 2016, after an alleged scope with ABVP members the previous night.
Despite extensive investigations by the Delhi police and later by the CBI, the residence of Ahmed still remains unknown. In 2018, a closing report was submitted by the CBI, which stated that no evidence had been found as a suggestion of any criminal activity with regard to the disappearance of Ahmed.
