UPI transaction volume rises 33% to 18.68 BN payments in May 2025

In May 2025 the average daily transaction volume rose to £ 60.2 crore of £ 59.6 crore in April 2025

The value of the UPI transactions from Unified Payments Interface (UPI) saw a healthy growth of 23 percent on an annual basis (YOY) in May 2025, rises to £ 25.14 Lakh Crore compared to £ 20.44 Lakh Crore in May 2024.

Furthermore, the volume of UPI transactions also increased by a robust 33 percent to 1,868 crore in the reporting month against 1,403 crore in the period of the year ago, according to NPCI data.

UPI is a system that flows multiple bank accounts to a single mobile application (of each participating bank), whereby different bank functions, seamless fund routering and trading payments are merged under one roof.

It is also suitable for the “Peer to Peer” request that can be planned and paid according to the required and convenience.

UPI has functions such as immediate money transfer via mobile devices around the clock 24*7 and 365 days; Single Click 2 Factor Authentication; Dealing for trading with a single application or in-app payments; Payments for utilities, based on payments based on payments (scan and wages) on the basis of payments.

On a quarterly-on-quarter base, the value and volume of UPI transactions have grown by approximately 5 percent of £ 23.95 Lakh Crore and 4.4 percent of 1,889 crore respectively.

Furthermore, in May 2025 the average daily transaction volume rose to 60.2 crore (from 59.6 crore in April 2025) and the average daily transaction amount increased by 81,106 crore (79,831 crore).
