Coronation Street couple Sally and Tim Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor and Joe Duttine) are in Loggerheads in coming episodes when Sally discovers that Tim has made a number of potentially life-changing decisions without first consulting it.
Tim recently suggested the idea that he and Sally could become foster parents.
This idea initially came from a tragedy. At the beginning of this year the couple was destroyed when Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan), a troubled boy they had allowed in their house, was brutally killed by his own brother.
Tim had found Mason in their barn and when he initially started to help him, it was on condition that Sally would not find out. However, when she found out, she finally came to Tim’s opinion that everything Mason needed was a little help and someone by his side.
Unfortunately, the couple was not able to save Mason. More recently, Tim’s parental, caring party appeared again when he took care of Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) daughters Shanice and Joanie, after Lou was attacked by her husband Mick (Joe Layton).
Tim was Lou and the girls in his cabin, but when he saw that Lou was injured, he got to bring her to A&E. When Lou did a runner from the hospital, Tim was left with the girls.
He took them home and took care of them and also offered Lou a place to stay before the night after she appeared again.
In coming episodes, with Shanice and Joanie who have returned home, Sally Tim says it is fun to have the house for itself again. Sally has done her childhood with her own daughters, Rosie (Helen Flanagan) and Sophie (Brooke Vincent), and she is ready for a peaceful life in a beautifully tidy house, complete with a conservatory.
However, Tim feels strong that he can make the difference for children in need by being a foster parent, so he secretly sets up a meeting to help the plan move forward.
Unhappy for him, Sally jumps back home just before his meeting is and finds him in his best shirt. Even a little, he has cleaned up the house and it looks impeccable.

It is clear that Sally is immediately wary and wants to know what he is planning. Although Tim is evasive about what is going on, the doorbell only goes later and Sally finds a social worker on the doorstep.
Sally is furious that Tim has taken this huge step without her knowledge. He tries to make things right with her, but she is too angry and refuses to listen.
Is this the end of Tim’s promoting ambitions, or does Sally come his way of thinking?
