“Provisional estimates indicate that enemy aviation has suffered more than $ 2 billion in damage,” said the source. “Enemy strategic bombers burn en masse in Russia.”
The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zenskyy did not take the bombing directly, but said on Sunday on X that Ukraine “did everything to protect our independence, our state and our people” after he said he had received updates from intelligence services and the SBU.
Zensky’s Staff Chef, Andriy Yermak, Posted an emoji From a spider web on Sunday, apparently referring to the name of the massive drone operation.
The remarkable attack was in the making for more than a year and a half, the source in the SBU told NBC News. The SBU smuggled drones to Russia for the first time, followed by mobile wooden huts. Once in Russia, the drones were hidden under hut roofs mounted on trucks. During the attack, the roofs opened remotely, allowing the drones to launch according to the source at Russian bombers, who added that the operation was supervised and carried out by the country’s security service.
NBC news could not verify the claims independently.
Russia did not immediately comment on the bomb attacks, but the regional governor of Irkutsk, Igor Kobzev, said on Telegram that there had been a drone attack “on a military unit in the settlement of Sredny.”
He did not say whether the Belaya flight base or others were hit, but said the drone was launched from a truck.
Russian officials in the Ryazan and Murmansk regions also reported the drone activity on Sunday afternoon, according to the Associated Press, but did not provide further details.

The last escalation only comes one day before Russia and Ukraine are planned for a second round of direct conversations in Istanbul.

“First – a complete and unconditional – it – it – fires. Secondly – the release of prisoners. Third – the return of kidnapped children,” he said.
