Coco Gauff came safely in the third round in Roland Garros with a Straight-Sets victory over the Czech teenager Tereza Valentova.
The 2023 US Open Champion and No 2 Seed in Paris, won a 6-2 6-4 victory on Thursday at the Suzanne Lenglen court.
Gauff served before the competition on 5-3 in the second set, only for Valentova, the world no. 172, to break back. But the delay of the teenager was short -lived.
Gauff demanded revenge in the next game to book her place in round three. “She’s very young and I knew it would be a tough match,” Gauff said afterwards.
The American reached the final in Roland Garros in 2022, but her 2025 campaign ended almost before it started.
Before her first round match, the 21-year-old wandered to the Philippe-Chatrier court to start Olivia Gadecki, just to realize that she had forgotten her rackets.
