Pastor Jamal Bryant calls for an electronic protest against dollar general due to reversing the dei policy.
Pastor Bryant urges consumers “A mass-technological campaign of telephone and e-mail and social media,” all communication overwhelmingly.
In an exclusive interview with US Today, He discussed why Dollar General has become the newest target. He mentions the elimination of dei policy as a betrayal of the most important customer base in the store.
“Like other companies, Dollar has bent General under pressure from the Trump administration and has reversed their diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives,” said Bryant. “Dollar General must also be held responsible for not investing in the very black and low income communities that form the backbone of their customer base. This is not only a business retreat-it is a betrayal of the people they benefit.”
The requirements of Bryant are simple. He wants a return from Dei, Community Reinvestment Fund and more suppliers of black ownership, and focuses on systemic racism within the corporate culture of Dollar General. “
40-day target fast
As a pastor of the new birth emission Baptist Church, Bryant organized the 40-day fast. The social movement boycot Goal. Bryant asked people to no longer consume his goods and services. Bryant believes that the initiative has been successful. As a result, he focuses his sights in the direction of Dollar General.
“Target is canceled because they have been betrayed and run away from our community, and we went further,” Bryant said Vs today. “We are done with Target, and then our next focus will be on dollar.”
Bryant acknowledges that the goalboycot was aimed at influencing sale. Food deserts in rural communities do not necessarily have the luxury of avoiding the company.
According to the US Department of Agricultural Research Atlas of Agriculture, food deserts are found everywhere in the United States. Thirty percent of the inhabitants of Mississippi currently live in a food desert. After Mississippi is New Mexico, where 29% of the population has no access to larger retailers and fresh food. Northern states, however, see better statistics. New York, Rhode Island and Vermont there are fewer than 10% of the residents who live in food deserts.
