Reece James believes that Chelsea can start a new era of success by completing a full set of European silverware. Chelsea Captain James was part of the winning team of Champions League in 2021 and the club has won just about everything from Premier League titles to FA Cups and European Super Cups in the last 20 years.
But the Europa Conference League would be a new trophy, even for the Chelsea cabinet and they would also be the first club to win the party. That may not be the biggest sign of honor because Real Madrid and Co would see it as a failure to be in the conference competition.
But if they get this trophy in their hands, James believes that it can lead to a new period of success for a new generation and an opportunity to repeat the glory days of the Roman Abramovich era.
James said: “It is a few years ago that we have silverware in our hands. So if you zoom out and take a look, I would like to think that this would bring the winning trophy back to the club and help the players who have won so much in their career so far.
“For the Chelsea fans I think it would be huge to win every trophy if possible. That’s why we’re going to do it for them tomorrow. We’re going to work extra hard for them.

“Of course it would mean a lot for myself and for the club and for many of the players who will be there for that trophy. Many of the young players have played such an important role in this competition this season, so it would mean a lot.
“I think the manager’s message was clear from the first day. You can’t make competition neglect and you have to give everything.
“At the end of the day it is a huge European competition. Look at the final in which we are tomorrow against such a large team with so much history.
James, 25, has had an eight -year season itself, largely due to injuries. But the defender of England says he feels the strongest for the last two or three years.
His leadership is sometimes questioned – not least by manager and so on Maresca – but James believes that he is growing in the role and the elimination of a trophy would clearly mean the world.
James said: “I played the most in two or three years this season. I am happy that I am back on the field and the team can help as much as possible if I can regularly. If I have been called tomorrow, I am ready.
“I think one thing to remember is that captains are and leaders are made, they were not born. I got the role at such a young age, when I went through a difficult period, I had many injuries, I was so on the field.
“So it was absolutely difficult during my first season as a captain. But I think I have grown so much in helping the team, the more I play.”
James also says that there are no hard feelings compared to Central Vooruit Nicolas Jackson – who could be confronted with real betis – even after his red card for an elbow at Newcastle and three GameBod Chelsea could have cost a spot of Champions League.
James added: “He clearly made a mistake. He is so important to us this season. Since he arrived, he played a major role in the way we play.”
