Blues Greats Andrew Johns and Brad Fittler have supported the decisions of Spencer Leniu and Latrell Mitchell not to speak with the media in the midst of a mixed reaction.

Leniu has not spoken to the media since his incident last month since his incident at Johnathan Thurston, while Mitchell has decided to let his football talk to this season so far.

Benny Elias described it as a “plague in the game” to the broad sports world, while Phil Gould reminded them that they have “obligations” under the NRL legislation.

However, Johns says that he “has no problem at all”.

“I think it is their own decision, both players, for whatever reason, whether they have no relationships with certain media or have the feeling that they have been treated unfairly, I see it as their decision not to talk and we should respect,” he said in the Word World of Sports’ Freddy and the eighth.

“I know there are contracts and all this, but it is the decision of these two players and I support it.”

Fittler warned that there could be a precedent set by their actions.

“There must be a little more formal, I think,” he said.

Nevertheless, the former Blues coach was not critical about the attitude of Leniu and Mitchell.

“I don’t really mind, the amount we do nowadays, don’t talk to Latrell, I think the game has added intrigue to the game,” he said.

“I think that is where a Wayne Bennett style personality has really helped our game because he actually doesn’t talk and if you look at the other side, there is so much overflowing that it has become the real rarity.”

However, when it comes to origin, the chance of a huge conversation point, however, increases exponentially compared to club matches.

Fittler believes that this will cause the biggest problem with the decision.

“I feel that there will be moments in origin, and if there is a big moment that we want to talk to Latrell or whoever it is, they might have to focus,” he said.

“The players have drawn a deal with the game, so it is between the game and the players that they solve this, I can accept that players go on Mediaban for a certain period. You can’t just talk to the media forever.”
