Sandwiches sold on British Hoofdstraat and in supermarket meal deals can be more caloric than hamburgers and sweeter than chocolate bars, according to analysis.
MailOnline found a host of the lunchtime favorites of the country more calories, saturated fat, sugar and salt than fast food and desserts.
Pret’s Posh Cheddar & Pickle Baguette Sandwich contained 643 calories, more than two McDonald’s cheeseburgers (295 calories each) or a Big Mac (494 calories).
Many sandwiches offered by British supermarkets had also defeated fast food burgers when it came to saturated fat content.
Waitrose’s No.1 The Perfect Ploughman’s Cornish Cheddar Sandwich was one of the most saturated fat content with 13.1 g per pack.
This is more fat than two McDonald’s cheese burgers, who have 5.4 g saturated fat each.
M&S Farm Cheddar Cheese Ploughman was a different high -rich range, and with 11.3 g saturated fat had more than a Big Mac (8.8 g).
Both sandwiches contain more than half of the daily stimulated fat borders of the NHS for women (20 g) and almost half for men (30 g) in just a single package.

Another surprising sugary offer was M&Ss all day long breakfastsandwich.
This sandwich contained 10.1 g sugar, just less than a Krispy Kreme original glazed donut (12g).
For context, the NHS recommends that adults consume only a maximum of 30 g of sugar per day.
