Mark Riley Every leader asked what the Australian dream looks like for an average Australian on the real estate market today?
Peter Dutton said it “looks like a nightmare” and blamed migration:
If you take a million people with you, they want a house for their children and their families, fair enough, but what we have seen is that Australians are displaced by home ownership, and our young Australians now, save harder than ever, pay more rent than ever. They are excluded from the market.
Anthony AlbaneseInstead, the housing crisis’ has not happened in recent years [but there has been] a decade or even more neglect ”. He pointed to a series of Labor measures and said:
We focus on the supply, not just the demand, because we know that this is the key in the future.
The prime minister said that the coalition’s fuel batch policy ‘is something that Scott Morrison did before the 2022 elections and then it disappeared. “
It is the same policy that is brought forward here.
Anthony Albanese that argues the measures Peter Dutton Is it forward to tackle problems with the costs of lives “all temporary”.
They will disappear in a year. The difference between that and what we bring forward is that ours is permanent. Permanent tax cuts … We need permanent change that makes a real difference for the standard of living of Australians.
Dutton said that “yes, it will take us time to clean up the mess of Labor”, but continued:
But in the meantime, [there is that] Immediate support – that 25c a liter of gasoline in gasoline can be provided to help people with the bills with which they are now confronted, and also the $ 1,200.
What will every leader of Sunday do to make Australian’s life easier?
Anthony Albanese First responded and said that the government “had already acted at the expense of living, but we know there is more to do”.
That is why we deliver an increased tax reduction – not just one, but two tax cuts in the next period. That is why we will continue to support real wage growth … We also have the plans for cheaper medicines … energy drawing lighting. The cheaper childcare policy that families with $ 2,700 benefited.
Peter Dutton said that he wanted to offer “immediate lighting”, pointing to the coalition’s fuel batch policy.
It saves around $ 14 every time you fill your tank. That is the immediate help. Second, $ 1,200 back via a tax discount. That will help people to deal with the costs of living lifetime of Labor.
The opposition leader led to the fact that Albanians offers “a plaster on a bullet wound”. He said that the long -term plan of the coalition is to “resolve the energy crisis, because that is what increases the costs of … everything in the economy.”
Anthony Albanese makes opening of comments
The prime minister, Anthony Albanesewas second to make his opening statement. He said that this Saturday Australians have a “real choice” to continue to build the future of Australia, or to go back to the past “.
Labor today has a real plan for supporting the costs of living, while you build with investments for tomorrow. Tax cuts for every Australian taxpayer, strengthening of medicine … Making more things here in Australia, reduced 20% in student debt and a down payment of 5% for first homeowners.
We know that we live in very uncertain times and that is why we need certainty, and during this campaign we have raised a clear, decisive policy.
The prime minister argued that the opposition is “minced and changed” during the campaign “minced and changed”.
Australians deserve certainty. What we will deliver is exactly that.
Peter Dutton makes opening comments
The opposition leader, Peter Dutton, Makes its opening comments and says that this election “everything about who can manage the Australian economy”.
If we can properly manage the economy, this means that we can lower inflation, we can help families with the costs of living crisis that this government has created … there are few or no Australians that I have met over the past three years that they can say that they are better off under the watch of this prime minister.
Dutton said he believes[s] Very strong that Australians will vote for change in these elections. “
There is a better way to manage our economy and manage our national security, and that is exactly what I have to offer in these elections.
The debate starts
The debate of the final leaders about the election campaign has now started in Seven’s Studios in Sydney.
Host Natalie Barr has just outlined the rules of the debate (as we have outlined before).
Anthony Albanese And Peter Dutton stand on opposite stages, with moderator Mark Riley in the middle.
What you missed from the debates of the previous leaders
There have already been three leadership debates in this federal election season, organized by Sky News, ABC and Nine respectively.
The debate of the first leaders between Anthony Albanese And Peter Dutton was held on April 8, with a debate of the treasurers between Jim Chalmers And Angus Taylor and an energy debate in between Chris Bowen And Ted O’Brien The same week.
Neither Albanian nor Dutton made a big mistake in the Sky News Forum in West Sydney, where Albanian was elected the winner from a poll of 100 undecided voters – with 44 votes to the 35 of Dutton (21 were undecided).
The second debate, about the ABC, was held on April 16, where the opposition leader responded, when he was asked if the consequences of climate change were worse, that he would “make scientists pass that judgment”. Dutton later clarified that he believed in climate change. Albanian denied claims that his government had modeled the impact of every change of negative gearing, before it was later clarified that the modeling existed and that it was not commissioned by his team. No winner was announced.
The third debate was held by Channel 9 on April 22, with the most animated joust when both leaders were invited to reinforce the “biggest lie” who had pushed their opponent during the campaign. Dutton accused Albanians of mounting a fear campaign about medicare financing, while the prime minister accused him in exchange of “despair”. The three nine entertainment journalists who interrogated the leaders, Dutton said “by having won a nose” (2-1).
Who moderates tonight’s debate and what are the rules?
Tonight’s debate is organized by Sunrise’s Natalie Barr and moderated by 7New’s political editor Mark Riley. Here are the basic rules for the confrontation:
The debate runs for an hour.
Both leaders will have one uninterrupted minute to make their opening and closing statements.
A 30-second countdown-timer is on the screen to keep everything on track, but microphones remain without interruptions.
The debate will concentrate on six important questions for each leader before he goes to a “fast fire” round where Albanians and Dutton quickly give yes/no or short answers.
The viewer submitted questions are also included, collected from both the online audience of the broadcast and the 7News.
Each leader has a minute to respond to each of the first six questions, with the order of answers that rotate to guarantee fairness.
Albanian and Dutton will come across four minutes and will be able to ask each other questions immediately – all moderated by Riley.
The leaders will then close the debate with a last field of one minute for the voters.
No winner will be explained as part of the debate broadcast, but a show afterwards – the verdict – will decide a winner based on a studio audience of 60 undecided voters. They are independently selected by Roy Morgan.
