Vice -President JD Vance has been labeled ‘ignorant’ by the Chinese government after he said that the American economic model was dependent on ‘Chinese farmers’.
Mr. Vance’s comments, made last week in an interview about FOX News, have gone viral on Chinese social media platforms in recent days.
“We borrow money from Chinese farmers to buy things that produce the things that Chinese farmers produce,”
Said Vance.
“That is not a prescription for economic prosperity, it is not a recipe for low prices and it is not a recipe for good jobs in the United States of America.
“President Trump takes this economy in a different direction.”
Vance made the comments after President Donald Trump had unveiled the rates for US trading partners and because America and China were about to do a trade war.
During a press conference on Tuesday, the spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lin Jian said that the comments were “disrespectful”.
“The position of China about the trade relationships in China has been made very clear,” he said.
“It is surprising and sad to hear such ignorant and disrespectful comments from this vice president.”
The ministry added that “busy, threats and blackmail are not the right way to deal with China”, referring to Mr Trump’s escalating rates against Chinese import.
It is not the first time that comments from Mr. Vance the vice president have landed in hot water.
At the end of February, Mr. Vance was seen as the instigator of a dramatic words between him, Mr. Trump and the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zenskyy.
At one point, Mr. Vance asked the Ukrainian war leader in wartime if he said “once thanked” during their white house meeting.

On another occasion, the vice -president was sharply criticized for the mocking of plans for European countries to send peaceichters to Ukraine, in which the “coalition of the willingness” was described as “20,000 troops from any country that has not fought war in 30 or 40 years”.
At the time, only two countries – the UK and France – had been publicly committed to sending troops to Ukraine in the case of a ceasefiring.
Both countries had also fought in addition to American troops in several conflicts in recent decades, also in Afghanistan.
