Bill Maher suggests that the Andrew Cuomo nursing home scandal can cost his NYC Mayoral campaign

Bill Maher doubted whether the former government of New York Andrew Cuomo was able to overcome his handling of nursing homes during the Coronavirus Pandemie in discussing his mayor’s ambitions.

The “real time” host spoke with Cuomo’s brother, former CNN-Gastheer Chris Cuomo, about the bid of the former Governor at Mayor of New York City on Maher’s “Club Random” Podcast On Sunday. Although Cuomo leads in the polls against other Democratic candidates and the current NYC mayor Eric Adams, who left the party to run as independent, Maher suggested that his past could come back Covid-19 guidelines to find out.

“I don’t think he’s going beyond the nursing home,” Maher said before suggesting that Cuomo should possess the problem.

Chris Cuomo, on the other hand, noted that he believed that the scandal would not determine the race, but that there would be busy from Democrats.

“I think he has a lot of pressure against him within that party,” said Chris Cuomo. “And they will have to make a decision whether they want to be in power or they want to guard their own beliefs within their party. I mean, that’s what they should decide. What are they about as a party?”

Andrew Cuomo was taken under fire about a controversial directive issued in March 2020, which initially erupted nursing homes from refusing patients who had tested positively on COVID-19. The directive was intended to release beds in case hospitals became overwhelmed, but was later withdrawn in the midst of speculation that the outbreaks and deaths had accelerated among the most vulnerable population of the state.

A report released by the New York State Comptroller in March 2022 later discovered that the health department of Cuomo “was not transparent in the report of COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes” and the “the number of deaths in nursing homes with no less than 50%” in some points of the pandaemie.

Cuomo eventually resigned from the office in August 2021 after accusations of sexual harassment, which he denies.

In response to Cuomo’s mayor’s offer, Adams reporters said that the former governor should “answer” for his role in killing nursing homes.

“I have met some of the family members and proponents of the nursing home. There are some things we want to do with them. But he has to answer that question on the path,” Adams replied. “Should that be an automatic disqualification? No, I think it should be answered on the path, exactly what happened. And I think some of those family members are looking forward to it.”

In a remark by Fox News Digital, the Cuomo campaign argued that his original guideline was consistent with federal supervision and accused opponents of playing “political games” with the issue.

“More than 1 million Americans died as a result of the COVID Pandemie, and our hearts breaking for the families of every person who lost a beloved – but unfortunately, as the Doj IG confirmed, is that pain is armed and politized for purely voters for these other extreme magic nor of the managing fringe dsa.
