Saus Gardner reportedly agreed a record-breaking new deal with the New York Jets that will make the best-paid cornerback in the NFL history.

According to NFL Insider Ian RapoportGardner has put Pen on paper on a four -year contract worth $ 120.4 million in New York, which gives him an annual salary of $ 30.1 million.

The 24-year-old confirmed that on Tuesday he signed new conditions with the jets and wrote on X next to a photo of himself: “The deal is only done the start.”

After he has credited his agents for doing the deal, Gardner added: “I appreciate the Jets Organization for believing in me, my teammates for the blood, the sweat and tears we put into it, and jet nation … I appreciate you support me God.”

His record deal only comes 24 hours after teammate Garrett Wilson had signed a new four -year contract of $ 130 million, making the first recipient in history who earned on average more than $ 31 million a year after playing only three seasons in the competition.

Gardner’s bumper extension surpasses the previous cornerback record set as March by Derek Stingley Jr., who signed a three-year-old deal of $ 90 million with the Houston Texans.

The former Cincinnati College star goes to his fourth season with the Jets later this year after being selected by the team with the fourth overall choice on the 2022 NFL Draft.

After registering 75 tackles and 20 passes defended in 17 performances, he was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and a first team All-Pro in his impressive Rookie season. He also received the last honor in the 2023 campaign despite his tackles (57) and the defended (11) numbers fall.

Although he is impressed by an individual memorandum, Gardner has to continue to the late season in New York after three disappointing seasons before the franchise.

The jets ended the bottom of the AFC in his smoking year with a record of 7-10, before a seasonal Achilles injury for new superstar Quarterback Aaron Rodgers led them to come only a place higher with the same record in 2023.

Last season was even more disastrous, despite the fact that Rodgers made his long-awaited return, with the resignation of head coach Robert Saleh after a 2-3 start of the season that turned out not to be successful when interim replacement Jeff Ulbrich then ran nine defeats in 12 games.
