New satellite images show Iran’s attack on an American military base in Qatar in June in a dome house equipment used for secure communication.
Hours after the Associated Press published an analysis of the photos, Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell recognized an Iranian ballistic rocket that hit the dome.
Qatar did not respond to requests for comments about the damage.
On June 23, Tehran attacked the Al Udeid air base outside of Qatar’s capital Doha in response to the US who bombarded three nuclear locations in Iran.
The strike also offered the Islamic Republic a way to take revenge, which quickly led to a ceasefire, mediated by US President Donald Trump, who ended the 12-day Iran-Israel War.
The Iranian attack has otherwise caused little damage – probably because the US has evacuated its plane from the base, which is home to the forward headquarters of the central command of the US Army, before the attack.
Mr. Trump also said that Iran had spotted when and how it would take revenge, so that we and Qatari air defenses were ready for the attack, which briefly disrupted the middle trips in the middle, but otherwise no regional war feared, feared by analysts.
Satellite images show an attack destroyed dome
Satellite images of Planet Labs PBC show the geodetic dome intact on the Al Udeid Air Base on the morning of June 23, just a few hours before the attack.

The photo shows a satellite dish in the dome, known as a Radome.
But images taken on June 25 and every day since the show, the dome has disappeared, with some damage visible on a nearby building.
The rest of the base seems to be largely untouched in the images.

In a statement, Mr. Parnell said that the rocket attack “has caused minimal damage to equipment and structures on the base”.
“Al Udeid Air Base remains fully operational and able to carry out his mission, in addition to our Qatari partners, to offer safety and stability in the region,” he said.
London -based satellite news channel Iran International reported for the first time about the damage, with reference to satellite photos taken by another provider.
Trump trivialized the attack while Iran broke over it
The White House had no immediate comments after Mr. Parnell’s recognition.
After the attack, the paramilitary revolutionary guard of Iran said that the air base was the “target of a destructive and powerful rocket attack”.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council also said that the basis was “broken”, without offering specific damage assessments.
Potentially signaling that he knew that the dome had been hit, a consultant from the Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamei separately said that the attack broke the communication of the base.
“All equipment of the base was completely destroyed and now the American command steam and connection of Al Udeid base have been completely cut to its other military bases,” said Ahmad Alamolhoda, a harsh spiritual, said.
However, Mr. Trump described the Iranian attack as a “very weak reaction”.
He said that Tehran fired 14 rockets, with 13 intercepted and one “liberated” because it went in a “non-threatening” direction.
“I want to thank Iran for having our early notification, which made it no life possible, and no one was injured,” he wrote on his website Truth Social.
Mr. Trump visited Al Udeid Air Base on 15 May as part of his Tour in the Midden -East.
