The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has started an official investigation into the Algerian national team for women for possible violations of CAF rules during the current 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) in Morocco.

CAF announced the investigation on Thursday, but did not give any details about the alleged violations. However, the movement follows increasing concern about the behavior of Algeria outside the field, including actions that are assumed to be influenced by political tensions.

“CAF has opened an investigation against the national team of the Algerian women to alleged violations of the CAF statutes and regulations during the current Total CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2024,” was the statement.

CAF also said that it would not give any further comments until the investigation was completed.

The announcement comes just a few days before Algeria comes across the Super Falcons of Nigeria in their last group game. Nigeria, who has won the tournament nine times, will keep a close eye on, although CAB did not say whether the case will influence the place of Algeria in the competition or competition.

There are reports that Algeria left Moroccan symbols and names of official materials, which contributes to tensions between the two North African countries. These actions have expressed concern about how politics could influence the spirit of the tournament.

The CAF study is seen as an attempt to protect the unity and fairness of African football during one of the largest matches.
