England is located in a place of Euro 2025.
The lion ribbons are the defending champion in Switzerland, but they are dangerously close to an embarrassing early exit after they had a blow on competition day.
England of Group D leaves that result, only saved from Wales’ 3-0 defeat against the second soil in the other opening fixture.
But what does that loss do for England, and what do they need to reach the last 16?
Group D table as it looks now
Posit | Team | P | W | D | L | GD | PTS |
1 | The Netherlands | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | +3 | 3 |
2 | France | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | +1 | 3 |
3 | England | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | -1 | 0 |
4 | Wales | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | -3 | 0 |
Simple, If England loses from the Netherlandsand France would draw with Wales, Their title defense would be over And they would be out of the first obstacle.
Wales will also be out if they are losing France and the Netherlands at least a draw with England.
The Lionesses cannot be switched off with a draw Against the Dutch in Zurich, and their chances would be massively helped by France if Les Bleues would win or pull against Wales and then beat Holland in their last game.
Of course that depends on England that Wales beat in their last fixture in St. Gallen, with a goal difference a key factor. The lion ribbons would need at least a margin of three goals to be sure of their quarter -final qualification.
If Wiegman’s side pulls the Netherlands today, France and Andries Jonker’s Dutch women can reach the knockout phases with a draw against each other on MatchDay three.
If the worst happened and the lion ribbons lose to the Netherlands, she would not be lost if Wales would do the impossible and France. England would not be out of it, but should beat the Welsh in their last game and hope that the Netherlands defeated France, which would then force a mini-competition between the three countries.
