Montalban, Rizal-Chery Tiggo turned to Cess Robles and his Rookies again to survive Akari, 24-26, 25-19, 25-16, 23-25, 15-10, and complete a two-game Sweep from the PVL on Tourstop at Ynares Center Montalban Stop on Sunday.
Robles, enjoying her role as the most important shooter of the crossovers, walked her fine shape and shot 23 points of 21 attacks and two blocks to lead her team to a 2-0 start in Pool B just behind undefeated leader Cignal (3-0).

“Coach told me that even if you are young, you can still lead, so show you on the field that you can do it,” said Robles in Filipin after counting 15 digs.
Ren Peñafiel, which was selected in the third round, continued to prove that she is one of the biggest stealing in the design and has 12 points and eight excellent receptions after scoring 11 in her debut against Capital1 on Saturday. Jyne Soreño also shone and scored the last two points of the game.
“Yesterday’s game was our motivation to do things well with how we play,” said Robles, who made a 17-point attempt in the victory over the Zonne-Spikers.
“That wasn’t really us. Today this is who we are: the team that fights. Coach also reminded us that we should stay focused, and how we also discipline ourselves and our body, we have to keep doing it.”
Imee Hernandez also made timely hits that Chery Tiggo gave a 12-8 spread in the fifth, who bounced miscues on Akari’s expensive attack. The chargers shot themselves in the foot with 41 errors.

Hernandez, who just returned after a debilitating road to the recovery of a knee injury, ended with eight points.
Setter Jas Nubor had 28 excellent sets on top of six points, while Libero Angela Nunag had 24igs and 12 receptions.
Ara Galang, who was against Capital1, saw limited action and contributed five points.
“Of course, I am really, very happy. I mean, two games and two victories. Yesterday’s victory was already a trust booster, and this more. This victory means a lot to us,” said Chery Tiggo -Coach Norman Miguel in Filipino.
“We can’t stop here. I want to solidify the character of the team, who are hungry to win, to have something to prove and to chase goals that I know they can achieve. They all came from champion teams, so they know what should happen and what it feels like to get it done.”

The crossovers brace for a challenging trip to Passi Arena in Iloilo against Cignal and Creamline on 19 and 20 July respectively.
Chery Tiggo conquered a start of 2-11 and 15-23 deficiency in the first set as three consecutive errors by Akari brought the frame to 24-all. The Midrally video challenge of the chargers of the attack by Ced Domingo Verlak off to get the SetPoint benefit back before the off-the-block Kill from Grethcel Soltones achieved the 1-0 advantage.
But the crossovers got their act together and dominated the next two for a 2-1 match lead.
Akari forced a decision-maker despite wasting a 23-18 spread in the fourth when Peñafiel made it twice a single-point game, 24-23, before the Soltones set winner.
Lacsina was at the forefront with 18 points and 18 excellent receptions. Eli Soyud had 17 points and 11 digs. Ced Domingo Chimde with 12 points, while Soltones added seven points and 19 receptions, only to move to a 1-3 record less than 24 hours after surviving sister Coffee, 26-24, 25-21, 17-25, 17-25, 17-15.
The Chargers are fighting the Capital1 Solar Spikers to complete their Pool B campaign on July 15 in Filoil Ecooil Center in San Juan City.
