PM Modi arrives in Brazil on a four -day visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here during a four-day visit, in which he will participate in the 17th Brics top and performs a state visit.

The prime minister received a ceremonial welcome upon his arrival at the International Airport of Galeao on Saturday evening (local time).

This is the fourth stage of his five-country visit.

“Landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I will participate in the BRICS top and later to their capital, Brasília, go for a state visit about President Lula’s invitation. In the hope of a productive round of meetings and interactions during this visit,” Modi said in a post on X.

“Dedicated to Brics Partnership! PM @Narendramodi lands in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the 17th Brics -Top,” said spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in an X -post.

Upon his arrival at the hotel, he was greeted by the songs of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” of members of the Indian community, with whom he also briefly communicated.

He was welcomed with music and cultural performances.

The Prime Minister arrived here from Argentina, where he held broad conversations with President Javier Milei and agreed to diversify two directional trade and to diversify critical minerals, pharmaceutical, energy and mining sectors.

During his visit, Modi will attend the BRICS top in Rio de Janeiro on 6 and 7 July, followed by a state visit, for which he will travel to Brasilia. It will be the first bilateral visit to the country by an Indian prime minister in almost six decades.

BRICS, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, has been expanded with five extra members: Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi -Arabia and the VAE.

In his departure statement, Modi said that India as the founder of BRICS is committed to the block as an essential platform for cooperation between emerging economies.

“Together we strive for a more peaceful, just, just, democratic and balanced multipolar world order,” he said.

On the sidelines of the top, modes will meet different world leaders.

Modi visited Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago and Argentina as part of the five-country visit. He will travel to Namibia during the last stage of his tour.
