US Northern Command (USNORLHCC) sends around 200 Marines to Florida to support the American immigration and customs enforcement (Ice) Interior Immigration Enforcement Mission.

Marines confirmed to Marine Wing Support Squadron 272 and Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina respond as part of a request from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Secretary of Defense Sean Parnell asked for a backup to support American immigration and customs enforcement in Florida, Louisiana and Texas with critical administrative and logistical possibilities in locations as prescribed by ICE.

Parnell approved a total mobilization of 700 with active, national guard and reserve troops. The Marines are in the first wave of the support of USNIPHCC.

“Service members who participate in this mission will strictly non-right to perform enforcement tasks within ICE facilities. Their roles will focus on administrative and logistics tasks, and they are specifically prohibited by direct contact with individuals at ICE guardianship or involvement in any aspect of the guardian chain,” according to a declaration that has been declaration of the USNortcom.

In his statement, Parnell stated that the support will relieve part of the unnecessary pressure on law enforcement.

“This support provides critical means to support ICE’s mission, which makes it clear to the law enforcement staff to concentrate on tasks and missions of law enforcement. The department continues to be committed to obtaining 100% operational control over the border,” said the statement.

The US Air Force and Marine have also taken over positions on federal land along the southern border, under a directive by Minister of Defense Pete Hegseeth.

The area, a piece of approximately 250 miles, located in the Cameron and Hidalgo provinces in Texas, is transferred to the Air Force Control and will fall under the jurisdiction of a joint base San Antonio. It will be managed as part of a newly established National Defense Area (NDA).

The Governor’s office, both tried the troop movement and called it ‘completely not on the neighborhood’.

The movements are part of a broader mission managed by the Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), a joint effort between the Air Force and the American Northern order to consolidate and strengthen the military presence along the border.
