Indonesian rescuers have temporarily stopped a search for 29 people who are still missing after a ferry with 65 people who fell near Bali.
The rescuers broke down the search on Thursday evening (Bali -Tijd) because of a “visibility problem,” said Nanang Sigit, the head of East Java Rescue Agency, adding that 29 people had been saved so far.
The search for the missing was hindered by strong currents and wind.

Mr. Sigit said that the operation would be resumed on Friday morning, with more than 160 rescuers, including the police and military staff, used to perform the search, supported by four ships and various helicopters.
The National Search and Rescue Agency said six people were confirmed to death.
The bodies of a three -year -old boy and his mother were restored on Thursday afternoon.
“The condition of this ship has been completely immersed, so there is a possibility that there are people in the ferry,”
Surabaya Search and Rescue Head Nanang Sigit said.
“But at the moment we first concentrate on the surface of the water.”

The KMP -Tunu Pratama Jaya dropped almost half an hour after leaving the Banyuwangi port of the province of Java on the way to Bali Leave on the way to Bali.

Many of those rescued were unconsciously in turbulent waters after hours, said Banyuwangi police chief Rama Samtama Putra.

One of the survivors, Eko Toniansyah, 25, who lost his father, Reuters said that the ferry suddenly started to sink and tilt, causing panic from all passengers who climb for life.

Another survivor, Bejo Santoso, 52, said that strong waves ensured that the ferry wave about 30 minutes after it left the gate.
Dozens of people willing to jump while the ferry started sinking, Mr. Santoso said.
Ferries are a common way of transport in Indonesia, an archipelago of more than 17,000 islands, and accidents are common, because lax safety standards often allow ships to be overloaded without sufficient life -saving equipment.
A small ferry capsized near the Sulawesi Island in Indonesia in 2023, in which at least 15 people were killed.
