A trainee for rep. Ron Estes (R-ks) was shot and killed in a shooting that took place in Washington, DC on Monday, according to several reports.
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) unveiled In a press release, Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, 21, by Granby, Massachusetts, one of three people who reportedly were seriously injured as a result of the shooting. The MPD added that they believe that Tarpijns-Jachym “was not the intended target of the shooting.”
MPD officers “responded to the sound of gunshots in the 1200 block of 7th Street, Northwest” on Monday evening around 10:28 am and found one adult man to be unconscious, and a “adult woman and a 16-year-old man” who “consciously and breathtaking suffered to shot wounds.”
All three victims are said to have been transported to local hospitals.
The MPD added that on Tuesday “after all life-saving measures failed”, Tarpinian-Jachym die was identified as the adult male victim, “collapsed for his injuries.”
“I will remember his friendly heart and how he always greeted everyone who came in our office with a cheerful smile,” Estes said In a statement about the emerging senior at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. “We are grateful to Eric for his service to the 4th district of Kansas and the country.”
Estes continued to ask that people, Susan, join him in “praying for his family and respected their privacy during this heartbreaking time.”
The MPD added to the press release that a “preliminary investigation” demonstrated that several suspects “had left a vehicle at the intersection of 7th and M Street, northwest and started shooting at a group,” and that the vehicle had been restored.
