A Mohali court on Wednesday (2 July 2025) extended the detention of Shiromani Akali Dal -leader Bikram Singh Majithia with four days, which was arrested in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
Mr. Majithia was produced in court in the midst of tight safety after his seven -day vigilance reservation ended on Wednesday.
Speaking to the media after a three -hour hearing, Public Proycuor Ferry Sofat said that the court extended the provisional detention of Majithia for four days after the Vigilance Bureau (VB) had submitted an application.
Even the VB office witnessed reinforced security schemes, apart from the Mohali District Court complex in Mohali where the politician was produced.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested Mr. Majithia on 25 June in the DA case reportedly with the money laundering of £ 540 crore “drug money”.
After his arrest, the court sent Mr. Majithia back to seven days of vigilance on 26 June.
In the fresh Fir registered against Mr. Majithia, the VB claimed that preliminary investigation has shown that he had been washed in various ways of more than £ 540 crore “drug money” and it was reportedly facilitated by Mr. Majithia.
This FIR against Mr. Majithia stems from an ongoing investigation that is being carried out by a special investigation team from Punjab Police into the drug case 2021.
In 2021, Mr. Majithia was booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The promotion was taken on the basis of a report from 2018 of the special Task Force Anti-drugs.
Mr. Majithia spent more than five months in the prison of Patiala and walked prison in August 2022 after the Punjab and Haryana Supreme Court led him.
