The new law that introduces the crime of femicide as punishable with life imprisonment is certainly “a nice news”, but that the bitter leaves in the mouth because it “makes” angry “. To tell the Adnkronos and Aurora Fiani, the friend of Sofia Castelli who was in the same house in the morning of July 29, 2023, while her ex, Zakaria Atqaoui, killed her. “Something like that would have radically changed the punishment of Zakaria,” says Aurora.
The man was in fact sentenced in first arrivals to 24 years in prison in the Court of Appeal, despite the fact that the Monza officer of the judiciary had requested a life sentence for him. The judges had taken into account the young age and the fact that it was uncensored. But for Aurora, those 24 years are “a spot”. “They finally introduced the crime of femicide. Maybe they had done it earlier, and not just for Sofia. You always have to come to the utmost to make decisions. And this is a bit of anger. If the law had done it earlier, the conviction of Zakaria will radically different.
The murder
Sofia Castelli and Aurora Fleeni that morning, at sunrise, returned from an evening in the disco with friends. Sofia’s parents were on vacation, so the two had decided to sleep together in the girl’s house in Cologno Monzese. They had placed themselves in the bed, in two different rooms, without knowing that in the closet in the Atqaoui had hidden itself with which the young Castelli (only 20 years old) had interrupted a relationship by her. The 24 -year -old had left the hiding place at the right time, had stabbed Sofia several times and left the house (in which he had imagined with a bouquet of keys in his possession).
