A 103-year-old marathon runner claims that he stopped the spread of his cancer with a overhaul of a radical diet.
Mike Fremont, from Cincinnati, Ohio, went against the advice of doctors and rejected drugs and surgery when he was diagnosed with 3 colon cancer at the age of 69.
Doctors in the Cleveland Clinic told him that the disease would kill him within three months, unless he started chemotherapy and radiotherapy, followed by an operation to remove the main tumor.
At that time, the cancer had already spread to its lymph nodes – a stage that is known as metastasis – when the disease can still be potentially cured, but with a high risk of becoming a terminal.
Typically, doctors use medicines to reduce the tumor so that it can be surgically removed.
But instead of opting for proven treatments, Fremont switched to a strict vegan diet aimed at whole foods such as sweet and white potatoes (without oil), tofu, leafy vegetables, legumes, vegetables, fruit and non-security milk.
He claims that the vegetable lifestyle has healed his metastases. Two years later he underwent an operation to remove the tumor and says he has been cancer -free since then.
But doctors remain skeptical, warning that even the strictest vegan diet can not replace chemotherapy or immunotherapy.
Fremont claims that the vegetable diet and the healthy lifestyle have healed its colorectal metastases. The cancer had spread to his lymph nodes and doctors gave the now 103-year-old three months to live
‘Although a healthy diet plays a supporting role in cancer care, doctors claim that it should be combined with medical treatments. Nutrition alone cannot eliminate cancer. ‘
Cancer experts previously told the Daily Mail that they see a ‘concerning’ rise of patients who use controversial treatments.
A 2023 study showed that 70 percent of cancer patients use an alternative medicine, one in three of that share uses it as their only treatment method and 27 percent hide it for their oncologists.
Dr. Heer added: “A nutritious diet must be used together with the right treatments in cancer patients, but diet alone cannot heal any cancer.”
About 75 percent of patients with colorectal cancer will live with treatment five years after their diagnosis.

Without treatment, the survival rates fall to only 44 percent after three years, which means that medical intervention is absolutely crucial.
A former Yale University thrust, Fremont was an avid runner since the 70s when he mourn the death of his wife.
His first of more than a dozen marathons was the Boston Marathon from 1972.
On 103, the retired engineer and climate activist still has several world records as the fastest marathon runner in the 88, 90 and 91 age categories.
That is why it was so shocking when Fremont received the world overview of the news in 1991.
He said: ‘I have contracted a cancer whose clinic of Cleveland said I would kill myself in 3 months unless they are operated.

“I said no, I went on a diet!
“The tumor was metastasized in my lymphatic system and would need efforts to treat the metastases with radiation and/or chemotherapy.”
Two years later he underwent surgery to remove the tumor from his colon when it started to bleed.
After the procedure, doctors have checked on cancer in 35 places around Fremont’s body, he said, found zero signs of cancer spread to other parts of the body.
Fremont believes that his great health and advanced age are mainly due to his habits, instead of genetics. His father died of liver cancer and his mother of a heart attack.
He said: “The results of the diet have been perfect and it has since been that diet that all my world records have been created, as well as such a distinction in the US.”
And he is not going to delay.
“My route is 5 miles long, through a picturesque park near Cincinnati with mixed surface, lots of hills,” he said.
‘The first mile is at my maximum speed, the other four under pressure to walk fast. At the age of 98 I decided to walk 5 miles instead of 10, but to do it at speed. ‘
Fremont has always followed a disciplined fitness plan, Say he runs Five miles three times a week and recording push-ups and pull-ups.
A typical day of food for Fremont starts with oatmeal, syrup and blueberries for breakfast.
Lunch consists of beans, while the dinner includes broccoli roses with ketchup.

Data from Jama surgery showed that colon cancer is expected to rise by 90 percent in people aged 20 to 34 by 2030
Fremont also lives a low-stress lifestyle, using practice as a form of emotional release.
He also does not drink or does not smoke.
His healthy lifestyle has been shown to prevent cancer and the repetition.
Research has shown that a structured training program for stage II and III colon cancer patients reduced the recurrence by 28 percent, the mortality risk reduced by 37 percent in eight years, and benefits showed only 1.5 to 2.25 hours of firm walking every week.
Focus on whole, unprocessed vegetable foods increases the amount of useful nutrients and connections that are taken to reduce inflammation, a key factor in the development of cancer.
In addition, these food choices can support a healthy weight, cholesterol levels and blood sugar control, all of which contribute to a lower risk of cancer
But there is no concrete evidence, only diet can turn cancer.
