The stars of CBS News ’60 minutes’ have sent a letter to the Senior Management of CBS in Los Angeles and demand that their acting executive producer, old producer Tanya Simon, is permanently called to the task according to a published report. Mrs Simon, who has been in charge since executive producer Bill Owens resigned in April, has overcome the program because it has broadcast challenging weekly anti-Trump segments, to the great frustration of the paramount, which tries to arrange a lawsuit against CBS and “60 minutes” by President Trump.
Indeed, while Paramount tries to arrange the lawsuit of President Trump $ 20 billion – about the ’60 minutes’ interview of Vice President Harris in October 2024 – the stars’ 60 minutes’, known as’ correspondents’, have become increasingly vocal about their accident with Paramount.
In the latest Attempt to Assert Themselves, The Far Left Media Reporter, Oliver Darcy, Reported in His Closely Read Status newsletter That All Seven Correspondents of the Venerable Newsmagazine Program – Lesley Stahl, Sharyn, Anderhen, Anderhen Cecilia Vega – Sent a Letter to Paramount Co -Executive George Cheeks with a Personnel Request: Make Tanya Simon – The daughter of the old CBS correspondent Bob Simon – the executive producer of “60 minutes”.
An employee said to Mr Darcy: “The next EP must be Tanya. There will be a rebellion if she is not.”
Mr Darcy reports that Mr. Cheeks and the president of CBS News, Tom Cibrowski, seem to wait to make a decision about the new executive producer until Paramount completes his merger with Skydance Media.
Mrs. Simon, who was the deputy of Mr. Owens was, worked as an interim-ex-producer of the show, who supervised the last weeks of the season when the program ran weekly anti-Trump stories. Her father, a legend in news broadcast that mainly appeared at “60 minutes” towards the end of his career, died after a crash on the West Side Highway of Manhattan in 2015. Mrs. Simon, who has worked for more than 25 years on “60 minutes”, is expected to have any apology against Mr. Trump resist that is part of every settlement.
Owens resigned in April and stated that he had lost the ability to make independent decisions for the program. His departure, generally as a forced eye, came after months of increasing tensions with the non-fighting chairman of Paramount, Shari Redstone, who had expressed her displeasure with “60 minutes” and the coverage of the Israel-Hamas war. Mrs. Redstone Reportedly Pushed to dismiss Mr. Owens after the show had a story about dissidence in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the reaction of America to the war, which the American Jewish committee called ‘shockingly unilateral’.
Owens was also given the management of a reinvestion of the “CBS evening news” after the expulsion of anchor Norah O’Donnell in a cost-saving measure. The new format for “CBS Evening News” was a fiasco, which led to a steep fall in assessments and income that exceeded the savings from the exit of Mrs. O’Donnell from the ledger.

The other important source of tension was Mr. Owens’ management of “60 minutes” When Paramount tried to resolve Mr Trump’s court case against CBS for the Harris interview, which from the beginning of her answer to a question about Israel called a “word salad”.
CBS has fiercely defended the adaptation of the Harris interview and tried to dismiss the lawsuit of Mr Trump or to move from the current location in Texas, where it is supervised by a judge appointed by Trump, Matthew Kacsmaryk, to New York. However, those requests have so far been refused.
Although CBS has tried to dismiss the lawsuit, Paramount’s managers are of the opinion that a settlement is the key to winning the Federal Communications Commission for its crucial merger with Skydance. The chairman of the FCC, Brendan Carr, appointed by Trump, has said that the president’s lawsuit is not related to the assessment. However, the agency carries out a news disruption of the Harris interview and the Skydance deal has stopped.
The former head of CBS News and Stations, Wendy McMahon, resigned in May and said she did not agree with her bosses on the path ahead. Puck’s Dylan Byers reported that she was fired because of the displeasure of her bosses about her overall work performance, not just the issue of the Harris interview, but was allowed to resign to face.

Mr. Owens and Mrs. McMahon were opponents to arrange Mr Trump’s lawsuit. Mr Darcy reported earlier that the two driven managers said that an apology for the Harris interview was a “red line” that they would not exceed.
The issue of whether CBS will give an apology for the Harris interview, seems to have become a bottleneck in the negotiations of the settlement negotiations. The network has apologized for other stories that turned out to be wrong, as in 2004 then preferred an apology in the air for running a story that wrongly attacked President Bush’s national Guard Service.
In the case of the Harris interview, CBS insists that it has done nothing wrong. Mr. Trump’s legal team, however, has insisted on an apology. In a movement that could derail negotiations on a settlement, “is not prepared” to publish an apology, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.
The decision of the correspondents of “60 minutes” to argue for Mrs. Simon to probably be the executive producer of the show that they believe that they will try to stand up against pressure from managers. She is not expected to give an apology for the Harris interview willingly.

Mr Darcy reports that Mrs. Stahl and Mr Pelley, who offered glowing words for Mr. Owens and his decision to resist the will of his bosses, “seriously weigh their future on the program.”
Mrs. Stahl said that she was ‘angry’ on Mrs. Redstone for her maneuver to try to try Mr. To arrange Trump. She told “The New Yorker Radio Hour” that the resignation of Mr. Owens was a “punch in the stomach”.
“Everyone in ’60 minutes’ – I think everyone … Most of us really appreciated that he came up with the pressure and saw him in heroic terms. So when he announced that he was taking off, it was a blow in the stomach. It was one of those punches where you can hardly breathe,” said Mrs. Stahl.
The long time “60 minutes” star refused to say what a red line would be for her to leave CBS because she said that Mr. Owens’s resignation was a “line” that was exceeded. However, she said that the former executive producer asked the staff not to resign.

Mr. Pelley provided a stunning on-Air reprimand of Paramount after Mr Owens’ resignation and tied his departure of the attempt to get his merger approved with Skydance.
He recently also has Mr. Trump denounced a fiery starting address of Wake Forest University. He then appeared on CNN, on the occasion of CNN who broadcasted the piece ‘Good Night and Good Luck’ about the legendary CBS News -Guestheer Edward R. Murrow. Mr. Pelley told his interviewer, Mr. Cooper, that the establishment of Mr Trump’s lawsuit would be “very harmful” to CBS News.
Although Mr Darcy reports that Mrs. Stahl and Mr Pelley are considering their future in the network, especially if Mrs. Simon is not called the executive producer, it is unclear whether they would actually leave.
Various large networks want to reduce costs due to dismissals or reducing salaries. It is very unlikely that Mr Pelley or Mrs. Stahl could replicate their seven cables and social status with a similar work somewhere else.
CBS did not respond to the request of the sun for comments at the time of publication.
