A SuperFit Personal Trainer has claimed that doctors blame her sudden brain for bleeding ‘years of exaggerating in the gym’.

Linzi Todd, from Northampton, suddenly developed tinnitus – a ringing or buzzing in the ears – and beating headache, while teaching in a fitness boat camp in March.

But the 40-year-old mother-of-one rejected the symptoms as purely ‘exaggerated’.

It was only after the pounding headache continued to exist, her bed bound left behind, which days later she visited A&E, where she was referred for an MRI scan and doctors advised her to increase her caffeine and water intake.

However, scan results showed that they were bleeding on the brain and 17 mm blood clot.

Mrs. Todd said she was called by doctors who encouraged her to come to the hospital as soon as possible.

Here further tests showed that the brain blood clot was activated by liquid that leaked from its spine – of which the suspected doctors were caused by years of intense exercise – and she underwent three weeks of treatment.

Now, Mrs. Todd, who is no longer a personal trainer and now works for a mental health care company, others insist not to take no as an answer from their doctors or give up if they think something is wrong.

Reminding her frightening test, she said: ‘I did a training camp to teach outdoor bootcamp -fitness and went to bed that night and developed tinnitus, which I had never had in my life.

‘I woke up the next morning with a real poldering headache. I crashed a few pills, felt unwell but broke.

‘I called the doctors and they put it down on labyrinthitis [an ear infection] Because I also felt dizzy.

“I just thought my body might be tired. I am not the type of person who gets sick. I have always been really fit and healthy.

“But the headache continued to exist. I would wake up with intense beating in my head as soon as I got up every morning.

“It felt like the worst brain freezer and only lying and painkillers would give me some relief.”

After attending A&E and undergoing an MRI, she said she received an urgent phone call from the neurologist who encouraged her to go to the hospital immediately.

“He said he could see an acute subdural hematoma on your brain, which is very serious and a very large blood clot,” said Mrs. Todd.

“He said we don’t often see bleeding of this size in women your age without head trauma and it was a medical emergency.

“I googled what this condition was and it said that there was a survival percentage of 25 percent. I thought, “am I going to die? Do I have to plan my funeral?”

“It was so traumatic. I had to say goodbye to my husband and daughter. I didn’t know if I would see them again or not.

‘Doctors were stunned by how I presented based on my scans and what they found. I was a high risk of stroke and attack, but I still succeeded for all their cognitive and reflex tests.

‘It is normally found in boxers, rugby players, horse riders-iMand who has had a trauma at the head.

I walked around in my brain and it could have killed me. ‘

Tests showed that the bleeding on the brain was caused by liquid leaking from her spine– those doctors have explained can happen to suitable and active people who ‘exaggerate’.

They believe exaggerated exercise Maybe her Dura has torn.

The Dura is the external layer of membranes, which acts as a barrier between the brain and the spinal cord.

In rare and serious cases, the leak causes a drop in the cracks of the spinal cord fluid. This allows the blood to form clots.

She is too quick to undergo an epidural blood plaster, a procedure used to stop a further leak of liquid around the spinal cord.

She said: ‘I don’t want someone to be postponed because it is very rare, but it is the only logical reasoning why this happened.

“I never thought a bad headache attack would result in this and almost three weeks in the hospital.

“I had to push every step off the road. It would have had another end if I hadn’t pushed that much as with doctors. I would definitely have died.

“I just knew something was wrong. I always tell others that they should listen to their own body and belly. Push to be seen and to get answers.

“You’d rather get a normal result than leave it and it’s too late.”

Earlier studies have suggested that excessive exercises can cause brain bleeding, which leads to potentially fatal strokes or brain bleeding.

In 2019, Joanne Leach, 46, from Holyhead, Anglesey, Wales also died of a brain haemorrhage while training on the practice bike.

Despite her husband Justin Beilensohn, 47, who carried out 20 minutes of resuscitation and she managed to breathe new life into her when paramedics arrived, she later died in the hospital.
