EMPWRD, an innovative AI-driven platform by Create Labs Ventures, brings inclusive technology to the next level and connects users with share-driven tools used through trusted data sets.
Built on a community -driven foundation, wants Empwrd Connect marginalized communitiesBrands and its daily users to make customized sources, such as legal aid, support for mental health, LGBTQ+ rights and more. “At Empwrd we try not to be everything for everyone,” said Empwrd founder Abran Maldonado in a press release. “We are building a platform with and for the communities that have been offside for too long – black and brown people, LGBTQ+ users, immigrants, people with disabilities.”
Maldonado, an Afro-Latino technologist and co-founder of Create Labs Ventures, is committed to launching innovative projects that will reform generative AI and digital human design and promote inclusive AI practices for educational and social impact.
The Chatbot framework from EMPWRD uses LGBTQ+ Best practices from Queerly and contains information from the “Know Your Rights” database of the American Civil Liberties Union to offer users and materials about constitutional rights and legal protections. Inclusive data sets from Tonl and contributions from makers of black, indigenous, latinx, disabled and immigrant communities create the complex details of real communities.
“We want to make sure that AI works for us, not to us,” said Maldonado. With previous studies that reveal AI’s frequent incorrect interpretations of language, Toon, a appearance of marginalized groups, “Empwrd arrives at a critical moment,” said the press release. “As AI technology is increasingly embedded in decision-making systems-hirings platforms, predictive police, Credietscores-Dus also the prejudices of his training data.”

EMPWRD was launched in June, in line with Pride Month and Juneteeenth. The AI platform cooperates with LGBTQ+ interest groups, HBCU Innovation Labs and social impact organizations. Throughout the year, the platform will unveil new collaborations and community “data drops” of historically under -represented groups.
