I started making my own foaming hand soap early in my switch to a more natural lifestyle. With concern about antibacterial soap and little ones who found cleanliness training the need to wash their hands/arms/counter with soap a thousand times a day, I needed a healthy and economical option.
Now that the children are older (and not so messy), we are still going through a lot of hand wash! Fortunately, there is a homemade and incredibly simple option that works just as well. It also hardly costs everything to make per bottle, and it is made with clean ingredients.
Simple do -ing -the foaming hand soap
The recipe itself is literally so simple that at some point my six -year -old was responsible for topping up the home -made foaming hand soap containers. I keep the few simple ingredients at hand and we never have to buy a hand soap or worry about the rowing. Surprisingly, this foaming natural soap also makes a decent shaving foam and bodywash in the shower …
Before you start, you need a foaming hand soap bottle. I originally ordered this Free foaming hand soap dispenser Online. You can also simply reuse the pump bottle of your favorite foaming hand soap.
Why use foaming hand soap?
Years ago I became addicted to making soap and we were always completely filled with different barzips. Now that life is busier in different ways, I rely more on natural liquid soap and foaming hand soap to hem. The foam pump creates a nice foam, but generally uses less soap than regular liquid hand soap.
This is great for small children who like to keep pumping the soap container again and again! And of course it is much healthier (and cheaper!) Then popular versions in places such as Bath and Body Works.
Ingredients used in homemade soap
The basic recipe is soap, oil and distilled water. You can keep it unscented or add a few drops of essential oils. These not only help to smell fun, but also add natural antimicrobial properties to tackle unwanted germs without using it synthetic antibacterial chemicals. I use Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap, which is supplied in an unparalleled version, as well as peppermint, lavender, citrus and other essential oil versions.
I use olive oil in this recipe, because it is deep hydrating, but jojoba, sweet almond or a liquid carrier oil will work. Just use something like coconut oil. For extra sliding you can also add 1/2 teaspoon of glycerine.
Because this recipe uses water and has no preservative, it must be used within about a week. If you don’t go through it so quickly, you can cut the recipe in two. However, in our house that is no problem! The basic recipe is 1 part soap up to 12 parts of water, so that you can scale it up or down.
Here is the (super simple) tutorial for making your own homemade foaming hand soap!
DIY foamy hand soap recipe
This simple foaming hand soap only contains water, liquid Castile soap, moisturizing oil and optional essential oils for a simple and economical homemade soap.
Proceeds: 13 gram
Fill the soap dispenser with water inside about 1 inch from the top. Make sure you leave room for the soap pump frother.
Add at least 2 tablespoons of liquid Castile soap to the water mixture. Note: Do not add the soap first or it makes bubbles when the water is added.
Add the oil and all essential oils when you use them.
Close and light swish to mix.
As you would regularly foam, use foaming hand soap.
- You need a foaming soap dispenser for this soap. Buy an online or reuse the bottle of a soap bought in the store.
- If you do not have distilled water, you can also use filtered water that has been cooked and then cooled.
Note about essential oils
A 1/2 teaspoon of essential oils is still less than a dilution of 1%, which is far below the general maximum amount for a flush. However, more irritating oils such as cinnamon, clove, oregano and lemongrass must be used or avoided in a much smaller quantity. Oils that have natural antimicrobial properties, but are softer on the skin, are lavender, orange, lemon and tea tree essential oil.
If you use soap that already contains essential oils, you no longer have to add.
