Tackeray Reunion about ‘Hindi Imposition’: Uddhav, Raj to jointly protest in Mumbai

In an important sign of reconciliation between the alienated cousins, UDDHAV Tackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) and RAJ Tackeray-guided Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) have announced that they will hold a joint march on July 5.

Both Uddhav and Raj will lead the protest from Girgaon Chowpatty to Azad Maidan, according to sources.

This step comes in the midst of the decision of the Devendra Fadnavis government to introduce Hindi as an optional third language of classes 1 to 5.

Earlier, both the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena closed the movement of Fadnavis and called it a imposition of a “language case” and an attempt to erase “marathiheid”.

Claiming that the BJP tries to “impose language case,” Uddhav Tackeray clarified that he was only against the imposition of Hindi in a marathi-speaking state, and not on the language.

“The BJP tries to create a gap between people based on language. It is a language case,” the former minister president claimed.

UDDHAV further stated that Chief Minister Fadnavis can rest all confusion about language design by declaring that Hindi will not be made mandatory in state schools.

Speaking of the controversy, CM Fadnavis made it clear that Hindi is optional while Marathi is mandatory.

The row broke out after the state government spent a changed order last week stating that Hindi will “in general” be taught as the third language to students in Marathi and English high schools of classes 1 to 5.

According to the order, if 20 students per grade in a school want a different Indian language, they can unsubscribe from Hindi. If such a question arises, a teacher is appointed or the language is taught online.
