Easters confirms a long -awaited return for ‘missing’ character after 27 years

Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley) quickly uses a shock in Easters, while his wife Julie Bates arrives in Walford.

Star Karen Henthorn will repeat her role as Julie who was last seen in the BBC 27 years ago.

Shortly after Nigel returned to Albert Square, we learned that he had suddenly left Julie without any explanation. When he returned to Walford, he told his good friends that they had divorced themselves.

It then became clear that Nigel left the parental home after hearing his diagnosis of dementia. He didn’t want to be bothered for Julie, so he left and stood alone for the disease.

With Julie who has to discover the truth very quickly, how will Nigel respond to the weather of her?

Star Karen discussed her return to the soap and said: ‘It is very surreal to be back on Albert Square after 27 years and to work again with the wonderful Paul Bradley – it is scary how quickly the time has disappeared! Julie received a number of terrible surprises for her after the first relief she feels to discover that Nigel is still alive.

“It was great to film with Paul and Steve (McFadden), who are such beautiful actors, as Julie discovers the diagnosis of Nigel and why he chose to hide it for her.”

New producer of the show Ben Wadey added: ‘We are delighted that Karen Henthorn returns to resume her role as Julie, who arrives in search of Nigel. Julie has not seen Nigel for almost two years and is not aware of his diagnosis and reasons to leave, so her arrival will ask questions for the couple. ‘

Karen last appeared in the show in 1998 when Julie and Nigel moved to Scotland to start a new life together. Her voice was heard on the screen earlier this year, when viewers saw Nigel listen to a voicemail from his wife.

Julie was mentioned in The Soap this week, when Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) realized how from his depth Phil Mitchell (Steve Mcfadden) had become while he cared for Nigel.

Kat noted that something was wrong and her ex-husband initially tried to cover what had happened earlier in the day.

She then started to ask where Julie was and why she was not present to help. Phil explained that she hadn’t seen Nigel for years and Kat was seen in a moment of reflection.

Will Kat contact Julie and therefore brings her to Albert Square?
