Microsoft Corp. MSFT CEO Satya Nadella believes that although AI is already accelerating scientific breakthroughs, the real game changer will be when Quantum Computing is integrated into the mix.

What happened: During a Hireside chat with Gary Tan At the AI Startup school of Y Combinator that was placed on YouTube on Wednesday, Nadella shared his vision of the future of AI, Quantum Computing and Supercomputing.

He explained that AI, together with High-Performance Computing (HPC), has already booked considerable steps in fields such as chemistry, physics and material science. However, he believes that Quantum Computing will bring these progress to the next level.

“If you want to understand the language of nature, what simulation is, I think that the best way to do this is through a quantum computer, because after all physics and nature are Kwantum,” Nadella said. “Ai is … an emulator of that simulator.”

“What we see is pretty good progress in the use of in principle HPC+AI as a way to speed up chemistry, in physics, in material science and so Quantum would be the next step in it. But we are very enthusiastic about what AI+Quantum and HPC can do in a loop,” he added.

Why it is important: In February earlier this year, Microsoft debuted his first quantum chip, Majorana 1Driven by a breakthrough Topological core Architecture designed to support quantum computers that can solve complex, real-world problems within a few years.

The core of this innovation is the Topo -onductor-one tailor-made material that makes it possible to make and control Majorana particles, which in turn produce more stable, scalable Qubits, the fundamental units of Kwantum Computing.

Microsoft said that this approach can eventually pack a million qubits on a chip that is small enough to fit in one hand, unlock applications such as breaking down microplastics and creating self -healing materials.

This announcement came only a few months later Alphabet Inc. Goosen Googl Google be introduced Willow quantum chip.

Earlier, Nvidia Corp. NVDA CEO Jensen Huang The quantum computers mentioned are approaching the point where they can solve Real-World problems that can be solved outside the reach of traditional computers.

On the GTC Paris Developer Conference, Huang returned his earlier cautious attitude and called this “a bending point” for the technology and predicting meaningful applications within a few years.
