Emma Raducanu has praised Wimbledon after a man who has stalked her was forbidden to buy tickets for this year’s championships.
The former US Open Champion greeted the ‘Amazing Job’ of the All England Club, after an attempt by the man who had followed her during various events last year, intercepted.
The man received a house ban from the police in Dubai after appearing on the Dubai Tennis Championships and appeared at the Raducanu competition, leaving them scared and in tears.
But Wimbledon’s security system increased a red flag after the man’s recent attempt to buy tickets for SW19 this year, whereby the application was subsequently rejected.
“Wimbledon did a great job. I got a report and the police contacted me and assured me that everything was in order,” said Raducanu, who will return to Eastbourne this week in Eastbourne in preparation for Wimbledon next week, to BBC Sport.
“I feel good, I feel comfortable and safe. I have had great protection when I recently visited these events. I feel a difference and that makes me more comfortable.”
With her victory in the US Open, Raducanu, who shot famous as a relatively unknown 18-year-old in 2021, competes in the Eastbourne this week.
And she paid tribute to fellow countryman Katie Boulter, who this week revealed the size of the online abuse that she regularly receives.
“I am happy that Katie spoke about it and I am glad she has recorded a position, because it is something we are all dealing with – some to different levels, but they are all quite extreme,” Raducanu added.

This year Raducanu returns to Flushing Meadows with a new doubles partner after she has confirmed her bid to win the mixed Doubles next to the current Wimbledon and the French open champion Carlos Alcaraz.
“She’s getting the boss!” He said, with a big smile in his press conference. “The US Open came to us and gave us the chance to play mixed doubles and I am super enthusiastic about it. It will be great.
“I have known Emma for a long time and I have a really good relationship with her, it will be interesting. The tournament told us about the mixed tournament and I thought it could not be better than Emma. I asked Emma if she wanted to play doubles with me and yes, I made that special request.”
Asked if she said, “Yes,” Alcaraz answered humorously, “She took a while! She had to think a bit!”
