It seems that fame will be the most important weapon of Cignal this season.

After a successful stint in the PVL on tour in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, the HD -Spikers have something to build on while haunting glory under a new coach and a sprinkling of new players.

“It is easier to adjust, especially because most of us came from Cignal from Feu, and it is also the Shaq coach program. So it has not been too difficult to adjust,” said Heather Guuino-O on Monday after a 25-21, 25-22, 25-16 victory over Capital1 at Chavit Coliseum.

Guino-O referred to her reunion with teammates from Far Eastern University and former college coach Shaq Delos Santos with the team.

When he came from the couch, the Veteran Wing Spiker delivered seven points, including two blocks, in which the system for which she once played in the Uaap embraced and made contact again with her colleague lady Tamaraws -gel Cayuna, Gyzelle Sy and Duremdes.

Delos Santos meanwhile benefited from that fame when the newcomers Guino-O, Erika Santos, Tin Tiamzon, Jessa Ordiales, Erin Pangilinan, Ethan Arce and Pearl Denura Blend helped, while the HD-Spikers won their first two games in Pool B.

“At the moment our decisions and strategies in the game are more flexible because we have more options,” said Delos Santos. “The impact of the new players is huge. Even for our Setters it is easier for them to spread the ball because everyone is able to score, whether it is a power hit, a cut shot or any style.”

“But we still have to maximize what we have, because we know that we still have to improve a lot. The competition is only becoming more difficult.”

Guino-O promises to stay ready for Cignal while they follow Creamline on July 1 in Filoil Ecooail Center in San Juan City.

“Coach Shaq reminded us that we should always be ready. Whatever the team misses, we have to get up and fill in,” she said.

On the way to Batangas

Cayuna, who ended with 21 excellent sets, said that the newcomers have somewhat adapted to the Cignal schedule of things and the four-time best Setter Awardee hopes that things will get better.

“I am happy that we play coherent, even if there are many newcomers,” she said.

In the meantime, the PVL is rocking on tour this weekend to Batangas City with Choco Mucho Fighting with Galeries Tower at 4 p.m. on Saturday in Batangas City Sports Center, followed by all-Filipino champion Petro Gazz Test Nxled’s Retooled Roster at 6.30 p.m.
