A 45-year-old real estate trader killed his wife and their son before he turned the gun himself in his car near a village in the Punjab patiala district on Sunday, the police said, adding that the incident seemed to be a suicide. A gun was found from the car.
The victims were identified as Sandep Singh Rajpal, a real estate trader from sector 109 in Mohali, his wife Maneeep Kaur (42) and their 15-year-old son Abhay Singh. For the time being research, Rajpal perhaps shot his wife and son in the Toyota Fortuner before he takes his own life.
According to the authorities, Abhay Singh had struggled with challenges in the field of mental health.
Farmers saw the stationary vehicle parked in the fields and the bloody bodies of the victims in the vicinity of the village of Chhngera and warned the police, who later reached the place.
A team consisting of DSP Rajpura Manjit Singh, Banur Sho Arshdep Sharma, research officer Hardev Singh, Asi Jaswinder Pal and forensic teams put a study on the spot.
The bodies of the victims were sent to the Neelam hospital in Dera Bassi for a post-mortem, which is planned for Monday pending the arrival of family members.
DSP Manjit Singh said, “Although the incident seems to be a suicide, all corners are thoroughly investigated.”
Rajpal, originally from the village of Sikhwala in Bathinda, lived in Mohali for the past seven to eight years. His brother lives in their native village and his sister is abroad.
