An Indigo flight from Guwahati to Chennai, with 168 passengers on board, made an emergency landing at the Bengaluru International Airport on Thursday (June 19) after the captain gave a ‘Mayday’ call. Mayday is an emergency call issued by aircraft, which points to a life -threatening situation and the need for immediate help. The emergency signal was sounded due to a layer of fuel level on the plane after the airport of Chennai had refused permission to land on congestion. The worrying incident only crashed a few days after an Air India plane with 242 people in Ahmedabad crashed, where almost everyone was killed on board.

Safe landing in Bengaluru
The pilots of Flight 6th-6764 (A321), who left Guwahati in Assam at 4.40 pm, tried to land in Chennai around 7.45 pm, but did not succeed in getting the necessary permission. The plane then circled around Chennai airport and eventually went to Bengaluru, which led to a fuel shortage. The plane landed safely at the international airport of Kempegowda in Benglauru shortly after 8 p.m.
“After the emergency call was received, the ATC (air traffic control) warned the employees on the ground that came into action. Medical and Fire Services staff was in force. The plane landed safely at 8:20 pm,” reported the Times of India and called sources.

Another similar incident
A similar incident took place on Friday, when a Madurai-bound Indigo flight suffered a technical nuisance in the air and asked for permission to fly back to Chennai. The aircraft, which wore nearly 70 passengers, landed safely and all passengers were shared with the necessary safety measures.

Ahmedabad plane crash
On June 12, an Air India aircraft with 242 people – 230 passengers and 12 crew members – crashed just after the departure of the International Airport of Ahmedabad, killing almost everyone on board. The accident meant one of the deadliest aviation accidents of India ever. The plane crashed in a residential area close to the airport and killed dozens of others on the ground. Ramesh Viswashkumar, a 40-year-old British citizen of Indian descent, is the only survivor of the tragic incident.
