Hollywood, Fla. (WSVN) -The Florida Panthers parade is only on Sunday, but that did not stop a children’s hospital in South Florida to organize one of itself.

It was a special celebration in the Joe Dimaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, while the staff set up a parade that brought a lot of smiles and their young patients had the feeling as back-to-back champions.

“Today we cheer the Florida Panthers, back-to-back Stanley Cup champions,” said Paige Cos, special event manager at Joe Dimaggio Children’s Hospital.

Video shared with 7News shows staff with banners and pom-poms through the corridor while parading the floors of the hospital.

Employees said that the improvised parade is for those who may not be able to attend the special occasion of Sunday.

“We are here just to spread and celebrate the cheers in all the victories of Florida Panthers. [Aleksander] Barkov and the rest of the team do so much for us here in Joe Dimaggio Children’s Hospital, so we just wanted to take the time and celebrate everything they do for us, “Cos said.

The hospital’s therapy dogs were dressed as their favorite Panthers players and lifted the spirits of the young patients from the hospital while they celebrated what organizers called ‘our champion age in real Pantersmode’.

“A couple of their therapy dogs went on their carts, they spent things and started cheering and everything with posters,” said patient Elizabeth Euceda.

The patients also participated in the pleasure when the hospital gave them items as free pucks.

“I think it is really a good thing, how the hospital brings people to doing this, such as their nurses and doctors, to keep drawing, and there are dogs who wear sweaters, and they give a couple of free pucks and everything,” said patient Marcus Kushner.

During the celebrations, patients received honorary recognition, certificates and other free things, which prove their Panthers.

“It makes me less nervous, and it feels like they are doing their best to make the grumpy children and the sad children even happier,” said Euceda.

“It’s a great way to help children be more, such as, luckily, instead of being so sad and crazy that they are in the hospital, and it gives them better, and it’s just great to do,” Kushner said.

Some Panthers players have previously visited the hospital, including Barkov, who donated $ 1,600 for every goal he has scored and $ 800 for every assist since 2019.
