I notice that I play the most mornings on living -work traffic: spot the Stubel & Co.
Stadstraten are on their way with the roll -top backpack of the brand – I can see them on twenty passes.
Has it become Cityfolk’s version of a Daunt Books? I didn’t say it was a particularly interesting game, but hey, it’s something to look at, except my phone.
Maybe I notice it because I’m part of the peloton. I love my S&C 20L-Rolltop, mainly for the Tardis-like main compartment, which is enough to see me away through a long weekend.
I also love that’s so compact – no bulky shell to navigate through crowds or accidentally knock out the elderly or children – and there are extra side and front pockets to stash essentials. The quilted laptop sleeve on the back? Genius when working on the road.
The brand has now stimulated the Ante for business travelers with a backpack on wheels that can fit up to no less than 40L. Ideal for work trips and short breaks, I took the bag for a spin to see if it is making the hype fulfilled.

The back is difficult because it supports the telescopic handle bracket, but the top is soft, so it will surrender to extra items inside. This also means that if you have fewer things to venture, you can use your compression ties to minimize bulk.
In the primary compartment, the design is loaded with bags and sleeves to organize your bits efficiently. You’ll find the laptop compartment on top of the opening, which can accommodate devices with screens up to 16 inches, About Enough for Most People. Everything is covered with durable, weather -resistant dust, the shielding of rain or shine, undoubtedly a handy feature for British weather.
The largest USP? You can use this two ways: as a standard backpack with the handle tucked in, or as a cabin bag, detaching the straps so they don’t get caught as you glide it behind you on Two Wheels.
Weighing just shy of 3kg empty, the wheeled kit bag isn’t Exactly a burden on the shoulders – it just feels a bit awkward thanks to the handle hardware. After all, this is twice as large as my usual Rollop bag. I Supose Backpack Mode would be useful in Circumstances Where You Need Both Hands Free, Have To Move Quickly (Tom Cruise would love it for the next Mission: impossible), or you will be confronted with many stairs or rough soil such as gravel or cobblestones.
I like the opening best. The zip opens 3/4 around the top and creates a wide mouth to reach the bags and corners of the main compartment. You can get what you need without excavating the contents of the entire bag.

Although I have not tried it during a trip, the measurements tell me that this bag through the Free baggage requirements At Jet2 and Norwegian. If you fly with BA, Easyjet, Ryanair or Wizz Air, it becomes a standard cabinbag, which usually costs an extra fee. Travel by rail? This fits into the luggage rack or overhead compartments without any problems.
Price – Is it worth the money?
For £ 225, the Stubble & Co bag is expensive, but for double use and easy rolability it is worth the investment, especially if you travel a lot.
It feels exceptionally well made with solid materials and storage in abundance, so I am sure it will go the distance. The capacity of 40L means, with careful packing, I could disappear for a week with only this bag alone.
