Shohei Ohtani made his long-awaited pitching debut for De La Dodgers on Monday evening after almost two years away from De Heuvel.
The two-way phenomenon had not been able to pitch in Major League Baseball since he underwent Tommy John operation in September 2023.
But after having received the green light by team medists and his surgeon, Ohtani went on some again as the starting pitchers of the Dodgers against the San Diego Padres.
He allowed two hits and a run of 12 balls and 28 throws in his first inning, took 16 strikes, but did not give a walk or did not play a batter.
Ohtani was not quite satisfied with one check-swing call during the inning, who kept Padres star Manny Machado alive before hit a pocket fly on the next ball.
Although he did not threw in an MLB match for 22 months, his top fast ball speed was clocked at an impressive 100.2 MPH.
