Anker Innovations Technology Co. Ltd. has issued a recall for more than 1.1 million Powercore 10000 Portable chargers follow reports of fires, explosions and injuries, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

What happened: Last week, Anker officially remembered the Powercore 10000 (model A1263), a popular portable power bank that was sold in the US between 1 June 2016 and December 31, 2022.

The Powercore 10000, manufactured in China, is one of the four Anker Power Bank models that are currently being recalled. Others include the 334 Maggo 10K battery, 321 Power Bank (5K) and 535 Power Bank (20K).

Anker’s bestsellers such as the 523 Powercore Slim 10K PD and Powercore III 10K are not influenced, reported Cnet.

How to check and what to do

Customers can verify whether their device is influenced by checking the serial number at the bottom of the Power Bank on the recall -web page of Anker. Anker instructs users to stop using recalled devices and to follow specific steps to be eligible for a free replacement, including:

  • Serve a photo of the device with the model, the serial number, the word “recalled” and personal data.
  • Confirm the correct removal at a local center for hazardous waste.
  • A receipt is useful but not required.

If the serial number is missing or unclear, anchor encourages users to contact support.
