An 80-year-old man is behind bars after he reportedly killed his wife with a hammer in their house in Maryland.
Vivian Stewart Nation was arrested for charges in the first degree in the death of the 78-year-old Beverly Rose Fletcher.
The police responded on Saturday around 6 p.m. at the Het Huis van het Pair in the Leisure World Senior Community in Montgomery County, Maryland, so as not to respond Fletcher.
A hammer was still pressed against her neck and a bloody knife and screwdriver were found in the neighborhood, according to judicial documents obtained by The Washington Post.
Authorities said Fletcher had sustained several stab wounds and there were signs of blunt strength trauma.
Nation, who had blood at the location of him, was admitted to the questions where he reportedly said investigators that the couple had argued about a problem with his doctor before pushing his wife on the ground.
“He then came on top of her and pushed a hammer against her throat, pushed the hammer down with both hands,” said the court documents.
Nation is held without bond and is planned to appear in court on Monday.
