A massive controversy broke out in the first match of the Asia Cup 2025 between the National Cricket team of Hong Kong and the National Cricket team of Afghanistan on Tuesday 9 September.
The Asia Cup 2025 opener between the Afghanistan National Cricket Team and Yasim Murtaza-led Hong Kong National Cricket Team is currently underway in the Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi.

Then, with the ball, Afghanistan was a great start when Fazalhaq Farooqi opened opener Anshuman Rath for a golden duck in the first about himself.

It looks like a good wicket to put runs on the board – Rashid Khan
Speaking after winning the throw and choosing to hit first, Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan said that they have focused on giving their best in the Asia Cup 2025 and forgot the last debacle to Pakistan. He said:
“We want to hit first. It looks like a good wicket to put runs on the board; a good total on the board will help the bowlers. In T20 it doesn’t matter if you win the pitch or not, but you have to give yourself the best chance to choose Wickets in the middle period.
“The (Tri series final) is already behind us, we are well focused on the game today, even if we had won the final, we would have focused on the game today and how we can win. Only one change compared to the final – Darwish Mist and Gulbadin is back.”
In the meantime, Hong Kong -skipper Yasim Murtaza said that they have played a good cricket for some time and would like to continue the momentum. He said:
“We first wanted to bowlen. I am happy to bowl. We worked hard to get here. We played a good cricket in the qualifications. As a captain I look forward to seeing how Kalhan Challu will do on the big stage.”
