After a disappointing loss in Game 3, which again saw plenty of offense in the first and little the rest of the way, the Brewers are looking to avoid a winner-take-all Game 5 in Milwaukee as they will take on the Cubs at Wrigley Field for the second consecutive night.
The Cubs scored all four of their runs in the first inning of last night’s game and ultimately won 4-3 as the Brewers couldn’t capitalize on a few late-game opportunities.
Right-hander Freddy Peralta wants to prevent the Cubs from tying the series. Peralta allowed a leadoff homer to Michael Busch in Saturday’s Game 1, but he bounced back to allow just one more run in six innings, striking out nine, putting Milwaukee in position to win. Peralta’s opponent is Matthew Boyd, who faced him in the same game 1. Boyd, however, had much less success, allowing six runs (two earned) and recording just two outs before being pulled from the game as the Crew ultimately won 9–3.
Instead of rolling out the same lineup he used in Game 1 against Boyd, Pat Murphy has opted to push Christian Yelich into the top spot, where he started Wednesday night. Jackson Chourio bats second again and starts on the left, followed by William Contreras and Brice Turang. Andrew Vaughn returns to the lineup against the southpaw, followed by Caleb Durbin, Sal Frelick, Blake Perkins and Joey Ortiz.
The first pitch is at 8:08 PM CT on HBO Max, TBS and the Brewers Radio Network.
